Exact Zoning Optimization Model for Marine Spatial Planning (MSP)

Marine spatial planning (MSP) has recently attracted more attention as an efficient decision support tool. MSP is a strategic and long-term process gathering multiple competing users of the ocean with objective to simplify decisions regarding sustainable use marine resources. One challenges in determine optimal zone locate new activity while taking into account locations other existing activities. Most approaches zoning are formulated non-linear optimization models involving objectives, which usually solved using stochastic search algorithms, leading sub-optimal solutions. In this paper, we propose model problem Multi-Objective Integer Linear Program. The developed for raster data it aims at maximizing interest area dedicated its compactness. We study two resolution methods: first, weighted-sum second, interactive approach based on improved augmented version ?-constraint method, AUGMECON2. To validate model, perform experiments artificially generated data. Our experimental shows that AUGMECON2 represents most promising terms relevance diversity solutions, compactness, computation time.
